Vergeo is a location alarm for Android. You choose a destination, and Vergeo rings when you get there — so you can put your phone away on a train, a bus, or in a car without watching the map.
This policy explains what information Vergeo handles, what stays on your phone, what is sent to other companies so certain features can work, and what control you have. It applies to the Vergeo Android app and to these public policy pages.
Please read the section on location information carefully. Vergeo needs your location to do its job, and we would rather be plain about that than bury it.
Vergeo has no user accounts. There is no sign-up, no login, and no password.
We do not operate any Vergeo server that receives your location, your destinations, or your app data. The decision about when your alarm should ring is made by the app on your own phone, and it keeps working with no internet connection at all.
Some features do involve other companies. Searching for a destination and drawing the map require sending information to our map provider. Positioning on Android involves the operating system's location services. Free users may see ads, which involve Google. Vergeo Pro purchases are processed by Google Play and managed with RevenueCat.
Vergeo does not sell or provide your saved destinations, your alarms, or your travel history to data brokers, and we do not build advertising profiles from where you go.
Vergeo asks for permission to use your device's location, including precise location and location while the app is in the background. Both are essential rather than optional extras: an arrival alarm that only knows your approximate position, or that stops watching the moment you lock your screen, cannot ring at the right place or the right time.
Location is used for three things:
The evaluation itself — comparing where you are against where your alarm is — happens in software running on your phone. That work does not travel to us, because we have no server for it to travel to, and it continues while you are offline or in airplane mode.
Vergeo uses Android location APIs and Google Play Services for positioning and geofencing, and may also receive satellite positioning information directly from your device. Google's handling of the information it receives is described in its privacy policy at:
https://policies.google.com/privacy
Vergeo also keeps a small amount of recent position and trip state on your phone so that it can recover after the operating system pauses or restarts it. That information stays on your device.
